I approach teaching as an experienced practitioner and a master’s level licensed clinician, with many years of direct practice service. I believe that students need to be grounded in theory but also strong in application. I model for my students what it is like to be an educator and a practitioner. I am authentic and genuine and often share ideas for self-care. I encourage reflection as means to enhance the learning potential. I follow all the core values of a social worker as outlined in the NASW Code of Ethics (2017). I value the dignity and worth of every student. I spend significant time in communication with students by e-mail, telephone, or in person in order to provide support and feedback.
