Garrison Named 2025 SU Employee of the Year
By SU Public Relations
SALISBURY, MD---A worker who “goes above and beyond for everyone,” Scott Garrison, facilities reservations manager in the Conference Services and Facilities Reservations Office, has been named SU’s 2025 Employee of the Year.
Announced during SU’s annual Employee Appreciation Day luncheon, the award included a $1,500 cash prize and SU parking pass with a designated parking spot for one year.
Garrison, one of SU’s 12 Employees of the Month for the 2025 fiscal year, was nominated by Lesley Staffeldt, director of Conference Services and Facilities Reservations, for representing the SU core value of excellence.
“Scott displays a strong commitment to excellence and outstanding service,” read Staffeldt’s nomination. “He is personable, kind and always considerate of others. Scott makes everyone feel like he truly cares about their well-being and supports their event to make it the best it can possibly be. He understands that the nature of event planning is constant change, and (plans are) often derailed by changing needs and event issues. Oftentimes he will remember significant details about a customer's event that they may not have even noticed. His ability to remember so many details, while providing so much care and attention to his tremendous workload is to be commended. Scott is patient, displays outstanding customer service, and will do everything possible to assist someone in need.”
Dr. Brian Polkinghorn, professor of Conflict Analysis and Dispute Resolution and director of the Bosserman Center for Conflict Resolution, supported Garrison’s nomination.
“Over the years the Bosserman Center has brought Heads of State and Nobel Laureates to SU. Each had varying degrees of eclectic needs that Scott adroitly and discretely managed. Working with security personnel, Scott addressed a wide range of space issues that satisfied a multitude of security groups. Scott delivered – every single time. We are fortunate to have such a skilled and mission-driven guy like Scott working for this University.”
Angela Lookabill, academic program specialist in Academic Affairs, added that “Scott really goes above and beyond to be helpful and find solutions to our many demands. Any time I stop in to say ‘hello,’ he’s happy to hold a conversation regardless of how busy he is. His attention to detail allows us to host a multitude of events around campus knowing he will coordinate all the moving parts. While one thinks of facilities reservations as just ‘rooms,’ it’s so much more than that; Scott has offered guidance on things such as AV/tech support, billing, and in-depth guidance on more detailed events. He will go above and beyond to alert me to anything I may have missed, and to ensure that everything goes off without a hitch. Scott is an amazing asset to the University and a pleasure to work with!”
