SALISBURY, MD---Dr. Vinita Agarwal, 富二代视频app University professor of communication, is co-editing the forthcoming handbook The Routledge Handbook of Health Communication and Social Justice, along with Christie Beck, professor of communication studies at Ohio University.
Part of Routledge’s Research in Health Communication series, the handbook explores the relationship of health communication with and for social justice. The handbook presents Agarwal and Beck’s collective disciplinary engagement — as scholars, educators, students and practitioners — with the task and agency implicit in the act of grappling with enduring questions and crafting the parameters of the ethical and socially just intersections of health that they believe will shape the present, and envisioning equitable and sustainable futures.
“Our handbook invites scholars and practitioners to consider how the whole person framework and social justice principles inform and extend their work to speak to our present-day and future challenges,” said Agarwal. “In doing so, we hope to further understandings of how health communication scholarship and practice can intervene, examine and/or critique social justice concerns in the realm of health choices, decision-making, and outcomes.”
