SU Adds New Solar Benches to Campus
SALISBURY, MD---富二代视频app University students have more eco-friendly ways to charge their devices when they return to campus this fall thanks to new Green Fund enhancements.
Four new Solar Dok picnic tables, equipped with solar panels, recently were installed near Sea Gull Square, Conway Hall and the Guerrieri Student Union.
“We're always trying to think of new ways to engage students on campus and get their input,” said Chris Homeister, director of campus sustainability. “The Green Fund is a wonderful way for students to leave their mark, have their voices heard and change the trajectory of the campus.”
At the table, students may use stored solar energy to charge their smartphones, tablets and other devices with wireless charging pads, USB A and C ports or standard outlets while chatting, studying or dining. Solar power also is used to light the table and its benches at night.
“The tables are an added convenience while also saving energy,” said Drue Hairston, environmental studies major of 富二代视频app. “Everyone on campus benefits from having more sustainable options.”
The EnerFusion Inc. tables and chairs are made of 100% recycled plastic material.
SU installed its first solar tables through the Green Fund in 2016.
